Online Psychotherapy
What is Online Psychotherapy?
Online counseling provides an opportunity to explore personal difficulties in a confidential and supportive environment. It may include expressing painful feelings, which many of us experience at certain times in our lives. When this happens, it can be challenging to stay positive and cope with everyday life occurrences. Online therapy allows you to access psychotherapy support at a time and in a place which is convenient for you.
With what sort of issues can I contact you?
Online therapy may be able to help with a wide range of issues. Here are some:
abuse, anxiety, stress, depression, loneliness. Others include relationship difficulties, grief, self-esteem, domestic violence, discrimination, loss/mourning and many more.
Not every type of issue can be resolved through online therapy. I will advise you if face to face therapy or some other form of support might be more suitable for you. I will make every effort to assist you in finding a suitable alternative if I think that online therapy would not be suited to your needs.
I am not able to provide online counselling to any person who is under the age of 18. If this applies to you, I can help with information on making a referral to a relevant agency which is specifically directed at a younger age group.
What does the service offer?
We will agree on an ‘appointment time’ together. This agreed time is in two-fold: the time that you will send your email and the time that you will receive my response. It could also be the time we decide for video or messaging appointments. It could be weekly or more frequently if we agree that it is necessary. As I will need some time to read your previous email, I suggest you send it to me at least 48 hours before you expect my response.
About the way I work online
I will provide, to the best of my ability, an online therapy experience that is safe, supportive and non-judgmental. I aim to give you the time and space to understand and gain insight into your situation. It is a process that can foster growth and lead to positive change in your life.
I am an Attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapist and avid user of intercultural concepts and ill use these approaches to foster out work together. Internal family systems (IFS) is another approach I can use on its own or combined with others if that is preferred. Demand for this particular therapy is on the increase.
Confidentiality and Security
Because of the nature of online work, security and confidentiality are major issues we that will be discussed before we start. Look out for further information regarding your therapy. It will be a longer version of this document.
